Student Volunteers

This FLL tournament could not operate without the support of many student volunteers. As a volunteer, you can help out to keep various aspects of the competition running smoothly and successfully. Some of the available job functions are listed below. Read over the list and decide what you would be interested in doing, then fill out the signup form so that we can place you in a desired job. Jobs are filled by experience and registration order, so sign up as soon as possible to secure your preferred spot!

Referee
Referees are responsible for scoring the matches and ensuring that teams follow the rules. Refs will attend a training the morning of the competition to make sure the the scoring is consistent.

Event Cleanup Attendants
Event cleanup attendants are responsible for both cleaning up the competition afterwards and for helping transition the field from stages of the competition (alliance, final four, final, etc.)

Table Reset
These volunteers will be responsible for setting the competition tables back up after each match by returning all lego elements to their proper locations.

Setup Attendants
Setup attendants will help with competition setup Friday night and/or Saturday morning. This is a position that can be filled by someone already volunteering for something else, as the work is not done during the actual competition.

Team Queuing
Manage the teams that are on deck and waiting for their upcoming matches.

Competition Attendants
Competition Attendants are responsible for checking teams in and escorting them to their matches. Attendants are also expected to help people around the competition (giving information, directions, etc.) and to man the information table. They may also be called upon to do some odd jobs for judges.

Floater
As a floater you will be assigned to temporary jobs as needed, or fill in for another position where someone has to leave or does not show up. This can be a fun job for volunteers unsure exactly what position they want to fill.

Scoring Official
Scoring officials are responsible for validating scores brought to them by score runners, entering the scores and displaying them. Scoring officials may also need to confer with judges so that the judges may keep track of how teams are doing.

Photographers
Photographers are responsible for taking pictures of both the event and of individual teams and their robots, which will be used for judge deliberation. **Must have own digital camera

Score Runner
Score running is a simple, but absolutely essential task that requires very little training. Score runners are responsible for collecting score sheets after matches from the referees and submitting them to the scoring officials. If needed, score runners may need to track down teams to correct errors in scoring.

Practice Table Attendant
This person will be responsible for making sure that teams are getting fair time at the practice table.

Videographer
Along with photo records of the competition, we also want to make a video of the day. So, we are looking for an experienced cameraman/woman to get shots of the event, especially matches. **Must have own video camera.
Volunteers Required: 1
MC
Announce teams and matches at the tournament and provide an exciting atmosphere for the competition.
